Wellness in the Office

As the summer winds to a close, stress levels begin to ramp up. Here’s some tips that Evans Larson practices in the office to ensure we stay on top of our game, every day.

  1. It’s no secret — Evans Larson loves pets! As stated in Business Insider, an office dog or cat will lower stress levels and boost productivity. It’s a win-win — Fido doesn’t have to stay at home, and everyone in the office will enjoy taking a mental break to play with (wo)man’s best friend.

  2. Remember to stretch! Sitting all day can take a toll on your body (and mind). Try taking 10 minutes in the morning and in the afternoon to stand up and move around and get a couple stretches in. Don’t know where to start? Web MD has an easy guide, with photos, to follow. Or invest in desks that can change heights and allow for sitting or standing while you work, like most of our team here.

  3.  The Bell of Mindfulness is a Google Chrome extension to help bring us back to the present moment and remind us to take a deep breath. Customize for how many times you’d like the bell to ring (1 – 3) and how often (10, 15, 20 minutes, etc). It’s a simple way to remember to slow down.

  4. Be sure to give your eyes a break. Staring at screens all day can be a headache — literally. To give your eyes a rest, Evans Larson client Toni Albrecht (InVision Distinctive Eyewear) suggests the 20/20/20 trick. Take a break every 20 minutes and look at something 20 feet away for about 20 seconds to change and adjust what your eye is focusing on.
