Summer is a wonderful time to unplug. Check out three of our favorite destinations for a weekend vacation.
Ithaca, New York
This Ivy League college town quiets down come June, making it a delightful destination for a summer getaway. Stay at the Argos Inn, a renovated mansion turned boutique hotel, which boasts a themed cocktail bar and uniquely decorated rooms. While in Ithaca, make time to explore one of the 150 waterfalls in the area and definitely book a wine tour around the finger lakes.
Sanibel Island, Florida
The Florida Keys are the perfect getaway when you’re looking to kick back and unplug. Check out Casa Ybel for beautiful beachfront accommodations. And when hunger strikes, head over to Timbers for their daily oyster menu or grab a pitcher of beer and fresh fish at Doc Ford’s. The Ding Darling National Wildlife Refuge is a great place to spend an afternoon – seeing and learning about alligators, manatees and a variety of wild birds.
Bonus: Cruise over and spend a night on Captiva Island at South Seas Island Resort. Walk down the beach to the Mucky Duck for dinner and a sunset on the patio.
Salt Spring Island, British Columbia
A short ferry ride from the mainland, Salt Spring Island offers a scenic and cozy escape. Known for its weekly market, stop by and graze on all sorts of goodies (wine, cheese, fish, produce) from organic, local producers. The Mineral Springs Resort boasts ocean-front cabins with mineral baths and an on-site spa.
